We spent the night in Delhi Airport on Monday the 21st and it wasn’t too bad. We got some sleep and made it to our 7am flight to Kathmandu the next morning. Much to our surprise our luggage made it too, after suspicious promises in Delhi such as “oh ok, we get your luggage for you, you’ll see it in the morning”... followed by, the next morning, “oh no worries your luggage is already on the plane”. Hmmm.
We got our first glimpse of the Himalayas from the plane over the clouds, they are pretty spectacular. We landed around 9:30am in Kathmandu and all had to wait outside the plane for this bus to pick us up, which then went in a huge circle, only to drop passengers off less than 500 feet from where we had just been standing. Why we could not walk isanyone’s guess.
Getting our visas and luggage was no problem, and we soon arrived at the Kathmandu Guest House. Very nice place. We tried hard to stay awake all day, as there is a 11 hour time difference from California. But sadly we did not make it past 2pm for Chez and 5pm for Griff. That lead to an interesting night of sleep/lack of, and thus explaining how we so easily woke up at 5:45am the next day.
