Road Trip. Chez and Holly, LA to CO via the Grand Canyon

Welcome to my first time in the desert southwest.  This was before the botany days, even really before the biology days.  I just wanted to have fun and see the wonders of the west with Holly. We landed at LAX from Hawaii and decided to drive around the desert areas, visiting the Grand Canyon and onward to Silverton, CO where my cousin currently lived. We'll just start it off with some funny pics - we had just come from Hawaii, and did not have many warm clothes.  Being October we were not expecting freezing temperatures at the Grand Canyon, but being 8000' above sea level, that's what we got.  And had some fun trying to get warm and cozy.

From the Grand Canyon we headed to the Four Corners, but not without some road work first.

The Four Corners

And onto Silverton, CO.

We loved Stephen and his old Volvo - driving me to the Denver airport his old gal could barely make it up some of the hills, and we were getting passed by 18-wheelers... oh well!
